January: Fire Mountain - Mount Arunachala, Tiruvannamalai

(photo 1) Everyday village families draw these beautiful mandalas outside their entrances.

(photo 2) The quiet country road near my permaculture farm. The man walking the motorbike nearly ran me over just after this photo. He was learning to ride it and accidentally pushed the accelerator instead of break. Crashing into a fence finally stopped him.

(photo 3) A tiny village shrine.

(photo 4) Can you guess what the flowers are stuck into?

......yeps, that's cow dung. It's a vital fuel here and you see people all the time going around and picking up fresh dung then making it into patties to dry.

(photo 5) Ramana Maharshi - the man who became enlightened meditating in caves on the mountain for 15years.

(photo 6) Monkey's love their greens.

(photo 7) I didn't know peacocks could fly. Can they?
This one is so high up, maybe 15m up!

(photo 8) This famous Arunachaleswara Temple is huge. It's full of glitzy Indian devotion.

(photo 9) I sat down to take some photos and ALL these people came up asking me to take there photo. I totally don't know why, but they loved posing then seeing themselve afterwards. I just love the glowing excitement on the kids faces. Especially the young boy holding his sisters hand, he was so shy then came to life.

(photo 10) The temple up close.

(photo 11) A typical street in Tiruvannamalai.

(photo 12) The magical Arunachala mountain. It sits on some powerful lay lines and is radiant with energy, being anywhere near it is full-power, so see why it's called fire mountain. Plus it's nature at it's best in full sun - gets me everytime.
